Step 1 - Establish A Sense of Urgency
•Examine your market and competition
•Identify and discuss crises, potential crises, and opportunities
Step 2 - Create the Guiding Coalition
•Put together a group with enough power to lead the change
•Get the group to work together like a team
Step 3 - Develop a Vision and Strategy
•Create a vision to help direct the change effort
•Develop strategies for achieving that vision
Step 4 - Communicate the Change Vision
•Use every vehicle possible to constantly communicate the vision and strategies
•Have the guiding coalition role model the expected behavior
Step 5 - Empower Employees for Broad-Based Action
•Get rid of obstacles
•Change systems or structures that undermine change
•Encourage risk taking and non-traditional ideas, and actions
Step 6 - Generating Short-Term Wins
Step 7 - Consolidate Gains and Produce More Change
•Use increased credibility to change systems and structures that do not fit the transformation vision
•Hire, promote and develop people who can implement the change vision
Reinvigorate the process with new projects, themes and change agents
Step 8 - Anchor New Approaches in the Culture
•Create better performance through customer –oriented behavior, strong leadership, and more effective management
•Demonstrate the connections between new behaviors and organizational success
•Ensure leadership development and organizational succession
