National Assessment Program – Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN)
• Students were assessed on the National level tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy
But in 2010, it was mandatory for schools to publish these results on their web sites
Dilemma
• Focus lies on the challenges and opportunities faced by school leaders in a context of data-driven or contractual accountability
• Investigates how ethical school leadership may operate in a context of increasing performance-driven accountability is our central question.

• Ethical leaders, in this professional context, are those who act fairly and justly.
• Principals & Dean are the puppets of the Trust or Institution Owner.
• Where Trust wants to maximize profit, Dean should be the epitome of leadership.
