Why Integrate Technology

• Technology has become an important part of our classroom. In the early 1900’s places of business, homes, and schools did not have technology such as computers and mobile devices anywhere. Many people dismissed the use of technology in school, but because of the technology advancements school teachers now use technology such as mp3 players, cell phones, and tablet computers to help enhance student learning.

Sample Lesson (Elementary)

Computer Care Poster

Level: K-2

Objective: The student will use KidPix or MS Paint and create a poster about computer care

Procedure:1. The teacher discusses computer care rules with students2. The student creates 2 posters on scrap paper that

illustrate computer care rules3. The student chooses one of their drawings to illustrate

computer care rules4. The students uses KidPix of MS Paint to create a poster

about computer care5. Student print poster6. The teacher displays the best posters around the

computer in the classroom to remind students of proper computer care

Sample Lesson (Middle School)

Cyber Trip USA

Level: 6th

Objective: The student will read for information, use the internet for research, and create a travel brochure for a state

Procedure1. Assign each student a state to research2. Go to the computer lab or library to do research. Half the

students use computers and the other half use printed material

3. Repeat process to insure all students have access to both resources

4. Students assemble their travel brochures uses Microsoft Word

5. Students will then create a Work Cited page that list where they found their information

6. When they finish, they print out the brochure and Work Cited Page
