CEC-Who we are

Founded on February 19th 2011, CEC have been well-

known for its missions, values, and activities. It is a club of

volunteers who want to advance their English ability and

are dedicated to helping community. First of all, CEC is a

playground for anyone wishing to improve their English and

soft skills, then CEC are supposed to play a significant role in

advancing community competence.

CEC Missions

CEC is a community that aims at helping its members advance their language and life

skills; training servant leaders who will sharpen their leadership skills to help other people; and

improving the life quality for Vietnamese people.

CEC Values

CANI-Constant and Never-ending Improvements: CEC are aware that the world is changing

rapidly, and we are not allowed to stop trying our best so as to catch up with that is occurring.

CEC members are encouraged to constantly make efforts to improve their attitude, skills and

knowledge.

IC/IVE – A series of activities ending with IC/IVE: CEC members are energetic, enthusiastic,

sympathetic, positive, supportive, etc.

Online Activities

Together with the advent of CEC Community English club, website www.cectn.net was officially

launched and put into operation. This is an important information channel that helps CEC practice

its saying “Sharing knowledge and Connecting Community”.

The online activities are divided into two main areas

including CEC Home and forum. In particular, CEC Home

is a place to updates news about the activities of the club

and useful news relating to students’ lives. The majority

of writings are compiled by CEC collaborators. Contrast

to a small number of people clicking to the site at its

newly establishment, up to now, CEC Home have

received hundreds of clicks

If CEC Home is a window to help CEC connect the

community, CEC forum is a place to share knowledge.

The majority of members are interested with some

topics like the materials of teachers, English learning

experience, and academic translation.

Especially, with the help of foreign teachers,

clips of studying English through idioms in Mr. Scott’s

video series have been done by CEC editors. They get

enthusiastic response of both English students and

teachers.

In addition to online activities, CEC also regularly organizes the

meeting every two weeks on Saturday afternoon. The moveable and

intellectual games in each meeting are designed to offer the best

opportunity to use English. Thus, when members take part in the

meeting, they will have more chance to speak English as well as

improve their confidence to communicate in foreign language.

In spite of the lack of facilities and errors in the operation

process; generally speaking, the offline activities have also created

an exciting English environment which helps CEC members study

and entertain in an effective way.

Audio- Visual Activities

The audio- visual activity is

considered one of the strong

points of CEC. All the meetings are

recorded and edited in the form of

short videos by audiovisual team

(A- V team). It is the precious

resources for successive members

of the CEC.

CEC Bilingual Magazine

The bilingual magazine of our club (CEC Bizine) is

the brainchild of club members under the advising

participation of the Board Chairman of Faculty of Foreign

Language- Thai Nguyen University, and the cooperation

and assistance of our lecturers. With the purpose of

creating a playground for students to improve their

reading comprehension and translating skills in order to

enhance the practical language ability, the content of this

magazine consists of English articles which are collected

from the famous magazines in the world, compiled and

published in the form of English- Vietnamese bilingual

magazine.

So far, the CEC Bizine has launched its first publication

in printed paper, and the electronic magazine has also been

introduced on the Homepage of the club. Despite

limitations and mistakes, the magazine also received

positive feedback from the readers.

Other Activities

Childhood Smile

“Childhood smile” is the name of

an activity program which is

organized by CEC- Community

English club- and the Union of

Faculty of Foreign Language for

children of officials on the occasion

of celebrating the International

children’s Day 1/6. It can be stated

that this is the first program that

CEC contributes to as a member

organizer.

It is this activity that is very

meaningful to CEC and that

marks a period of development

in our operation process. By

careful preparation, this

program was held successful.

This is a great encouragement

for CEC members to continue to

do better in the next program.

Green summer volunteer 2011

Toward further development of community activities, in summer 2011,

CEC collaborated with the Communist youth Union of the Foreign

Language Faculty-Thai Nguyen University to hold “Green Summer

Volunteer” program in Tan Long commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen

province. province. Together with organizing summer activities and

teaching English to children in the area, participating in

voluntary activities is very useful for the members of the

club in improving soft skills as well as accumulating social

knowledge as the preparation before our leaving

university.

In the upcoming term, CEC

concentrates on the top objectives -

training a successive team of club leaders

and developing CEC in depth. The passed

time has shown that in parallel with the

mission of ensuring the quality of the

Club’s activities, the mission of searching

and developing human and intellectual

resources is a crucial factor for the

development of the club.

As planned, CEC continues the development following the directions:

Firstly In terms of Foreign Affairs, tightening the relationship between the club and other clubs in Thai

Nguyen City, building the Club’s prestige among students and other English clubs.

Secondly

In terms of domestic policy, diversifying types of activities and operations, helping the

members reach the new sources of knowledge and skills; developing English competence and

soft skills of the members.

Thirdly

Completing organizational structure and forms of operation, increasing democracy and

equality among members, ensuring smooth information and closing tightly the membership

management are also key tasks in the next term.
