CD COVERSCD COVERS

The CD cover and back all relate to each other and keep within the house style. The CD cover consists of a beach theme with the ‘scouting for girls’ logo. There is no white spaces on the CD digipack which makes it more interesting. The design gives us an idea that the band is quite calm which would not portray rock but more of an indie pop style. The key image on the CD is the bands logo as this is what they would use for their brand identity, making them easier to recognise. At the bottom of the back cover it has ‘sony/bmg’ at the bottom with the barcode of the album at the top. The front cover is simple yet effective with the bands name and a small image on the side.

The front of the CD cover does not relate to the back but is still an effective album cover as it has a clear artist and album name at the top with the main image in the centre. The back cover is much brighter than the front and the tracks stand out in white compared to the rest of the picture which is duller. Underneath the track list there is a paragraph which consists of the copyrights and who has marketed and distributed the album. The design of the album shows us that Coldplay is a band by having a picture of them together on the back whereas on the front it looks like the sun which shows us different seasons. I think the CD cover gives the audience an idea of what sort of band they are trying to portray, the front looks calm but also has dark colours which could give us an idea of a rock/indie band.

The front cover of ‘THE SCRIPT’ relates to the back as well as they both have two hands holding each other. The CD keeps the same house style by using darker colours such as brown and black. The album has the bands name at the top in there logo which will be easily recognised and underneath it says the albums name ‘science&faith’, this could give us an idea that they are trying to portray and old theme throughout the CD.On the back of the cover it has ‘SONY MUSIC’ in the corner representing the company and also has the track list small in the top right hand corner. The scripts website is also at the top of the back cover to attract audiences and allow target audiences to purchase any items.

The front and back of Adele’s album is very similar and simple it consists of a black background with white writing to stand out and Adele’s pictures are also in black and white to continue the theme. The picture used of Adele on the front cover show her to be vulnerable and hurt which shows this could be an emotional CD. Whereas the back shows her to be powerful and looking directly towards the camera which could portray some louder powerful songs. On the back of the CD the tracks are written in white capitals which make them stand out. Underneath the barcode there is Adele’s website with her company’s website as well. This is good for her target audience and others to be able to go onto the website to view more of her music and to get to know the artist more.
