Himani Sharma

Himani Sharma is bright, young talented student at Oaks Park Sixth Form who turned out to be the best actress for us to play the important role of Saira as she has done GCSE Drama in the past and has some experience in acting. She was the chosen one from the auditions we had. Himani played the role of Saira easily and didn’t find it difficult at all, however acting with different age groups was hard for her to adapt to but got there in the end. Also we thought the role would fit her perfectly and can relate as she is Indian which makes it easier for the story to flow and realistic.

Nusrat Mahmood

Nusrat Mahmood works in a primary school as a dinner lady and supports young children with their disability. Also being a housewife with two children at home but both old enough to look after themselves.Nusrat having a daughter would make it easier for her to understand the role of the character needed and due to this we thought she would be the best person to play the stereotypical character of an Asian mother. The reason why we chose Nusrat was because it seems believable as well as being able to understand the scenario itself in case it was to happen with her own daughter one day..

Richard Campbell

Richard Campbell is a funny, lively, enjoyable person who loves going out and having a laugh with his friends and family. He is able to play various characters as he is also a ex drama student at Wanstead High School and as he was very enthusiastic about playing this character we thought he would be the best person to fit this role.Richard also being Jamaican himself would make it easier and authentic for the audience as the role would be played exactly how the director would want it. Richard being born in Jamaica also helps with the accent and the body language. The reason why we chose Richard was because he was about the same age as Himani which would make it believable to the audience and himself being a ladies man created that sense of humour we were looking for in a character like this.
