Onggoyan Festival

The Onggoyan Festival is celebrated with much gaiety and funfare. It features an agro-industrial fare, a beauty contest, a sports festival. One of the highlights of the festival is the street dancing event where dancers depict the movement of monkeys. 

The term "onggoyan" is derived from "unggoy", the Filipino term for monkey.

Bonok-Bonok Madjaw Karajaw Festival

o In San Benito, usually observed in the 20th and 21st of March.

o Bonok-Bonok is the name of the local festival in the province’ capital city, Surigao. This is a ritual dance which originated from the Mamanwas, the early settlers of Surigao.

o The dance ritual has been brought down through the generations and still being practiced today. In reverence to the Patron Saint San Nicolas de Tolentino, the people have already adopted the “Bonok–bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw” Festival which is a reflection of Surigao’s rich cultural heritage.

Lumondo Waterfall and Eco-Park

oThis natural park nestled at Brgy. Budingin, Municipality of Alegria is just 2 kilometers from the Poblacion. oOne will be awed by the huge volume of water cascading into a 45 meter granite precipice a majestic panorama which can be viewed from a misty mountain trail.

Siargao Island

The unspoiled teardrop shaped island called Siargao is the shangrila of adventurers and nature lovers. It is the surfing capital of the Philippines, which is 800 kilometers Southeast of Manila. Siargao is the largest of a group of islands emerging as one of the finest water sport destinations in the country.

Magpupungko Beach

Located in Pilar, Siargao Island wherein the famous International Game Fishing Tournament is being held every year. It is situated in a cove facing the Pacific, the place is surrounded by limestone and granite sculptures. It is derived from the root word pungko which is in English means to sit

Sohoton Cave

►It is situated in Bucas Grande Island, also a part of Siargao Island. ►This enchanting cave is half-submerged in water most of the time and accessible only during low tide. ►Sohoton" is a Waray word, which means "to pass through."in its periphery.

Del Carmen Mangrove Forest

═Del Carmen has the vast and preserved mangrove forest.

═Sugba lagoon is also a scenic destination/attraction in Del Carmen resembling the mini- Sohoton cove in Bucas Grande Island.

Surigao Del Sur

• It was created as the 56th independent Philippine province on June 19, 1960 by virtue of House Bill No. 3058 also known as Republic Act No. 2786 authored by then Representative Reynaldo P. Honrado.

Karawasan Festival

o In Bislig City, it is celebrated on the 25th of January.

o It is a festival of ethnic dances depicting the movement of crabs.

o Karawasan is actually a collective name given to the member of the crab family found to be great in the salty and freshwater of Bislig.

Kalumunan Festival

It is celebrated on the 28th of August in San Agustin.

The Kalumunan Festival celebrates the gathering of families through street dancing.

Marine Park Santuary

►A fish sanctuary in Lanuza Bay with an outpost by the local Bantay Dagat, a promontory/watchtower plus a sanctuary café said to be serving local delicacies and selling souvenirs and products from Lanuza.

Campamento Cave

→This is one of the garrisons of the Japanese soldiers during the Japanese regime. →It is located in the interior portion near Daniog river and Silop Spring at Silop, Agsam-Gamuton, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur is a naturally preserved structure that Lanzanhons (the people in the area) are very proud of. →It has magnificent formation of stalactites and stalagmites that glows in the dark and shines when hit by light.

Cagwait White Beach

It is a U-shaped white sand paradise baptized by the famous pilot Charles Lindbergh as the Waikiki Beach of the Philippines. It is very accessible from the town site, being just a ten-minute ride away from the center of the poblacion.

Britania Group of Islets

•The Britania Group of Islets has been recognized as a tourist spot in Caraga Region•. Situated in Lianga Bay, specifically in Barangay San Agustin, are a group of tiny islands collectively known as the Britania Group of Islets. •These islets have already been visited by plenty of tourists for its picturesque landscape, pristine waters and powdery white sand.

Tinuy-An Falls

oSituated in the forest of Borboanan, Bislig City.

othe name of Tinuy-an Falls comes from a shortened form of tinuyoan (from the Visayan root noun tuyo, which means "intention" or "aim"), which refers to an intentional act or performance to attain an objective or goal.

oThe falls is approximately 95 meters wide and 55 meters high and is dubbed as the “The Little Niagara Falls” of the Philippines.

Enchanted River

Minutes away from the town proper of Surigao del Sur, in the midst of Barangay Cambatong, lies the now famous Enchanted river. Its river system is one of the most magnificent bodies of water in the Philippines. Many tourists and locals alike have been captivated by the natural beauty it holds and plenty have endured the long travel just to swim in its 80-meter deep, bright, blue waters.

•From its name, many have pondered how it was called in such a way that it will lead a person to thinking that the place is truly enchanted by spirits. •Stories also have been conjured about the truth behind the rule of not being allowed to swim after dark because the spirits are already guarding the place•Aside from its alluring blue-colored water, the river is home to beautiful and colorful variety of fishes which are fed by the locals every lunch time.

Natural Bonsai Forest

oOne of the many wonders found in the province of Dinagat Island is the Natural Bonsai forest, most amazing and extra-ordinary. oIts physical appearance that lies on an estimated hundreds of hectares of mountain ranges ofBabaeng Bukid, Bil-at Daku and Gamay and in other peak of Dinagat Islands.
