An establishing shot is used in the beginning of an opening sequence. It establishes the location or

setting. It is either a wider or long shot. Establishing shots can make the location appear isolated or cut off from civilisation. For example was this taken of Curse

Of Chucky. It shows an isolated house, immediately creating suspense.

Wide & Long shots are often used in the establishing shot (slide before) but can also represent isolated and lonely characters in

horror movies. It is used to present the protagonist as fearful and helpless.

The camera follows the protagonist or subject from any direction . It gives the audience the impression

that the subject is being followed or stalked.

The shot is taken in the position of the subjects, to involve the audience more and make the shot more realistic. Point of view shots are often used in horror movies as they can

show the audience what the victim sees. It can also be the perspective of the murderer or stalker to give the audience

the impression the victim is being watched.

Close ups, extreme close ups, mid close ups are used to involve the audience more in what is happening.

They are mainly used for facial expressions or observe reactions. It is a really effective camera shot as it allows the viewer to feel the victims fear. On the

other hand it can be used to show the terrible and horrifying actions from the villain to scar the

audience.
