What is business Development?

• According to Forbes, business development is the creation of long-term value 

for an organization from customers, markets, and relationships.

• For Direct Delivery the value is created when 30 000 employable graduates 

have been sent into the world of work by 2024.

• Value is not just sending out 30 000 employable graduates into the world of 

work, it is also to ensure that there is an improvement in the pass rate, 

throughput as well as graduate rates.

• How then do we achieve this?

• By putting the student at the centre of everything we do.

Key activities that I will do as a student advisor to put the students at the centre of everything that I do

The key activities in my role as an student advisor are the following; Advising students about academic requirements and selection of courses Disseminating information on institutional policies and procedures Reviewing and interpreting the placement and other standardized test scores, and courses

prerequisites Assisting students with career planning Monitoring student registration activities and recommend solutions to academic difficulties Coordinating communications to the students regarding such things as registration process Referring students to the appropriate specialized staff for such issues as counselling, financial

assistance, accommodation, etc. Participating in the development, implementation, review, presentation, and revision of orientations

for the first-time college students Staying abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new

programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities and updates in college-wide initiatives

Participating in institutional student development and retention programs Serving as resource for faculty/staff

Key activities that I will do as a student advisor to put the students at the centre of everything that I do

The activities that I am going to undertake in my role as a student advisor to make sure that the student is at the centre of everything that I do are the following;• I will make sure that I align the learners 'competencies and abilities to the right

qualification in order to avoid dropping out and failure. I will do this by correctly interpreting the psychometric tests that I will administer to the students.

• I will also study the job market in order to be able to advise the students on the right career path so that they will get employed soon after graduation

• I will ensure that every student touch point is an excellent moment of truth. I will exceed the students 'expectations by satisfying all their needs and more.

• I will determine the amount of experience required for the graduates to get jobs. In the case where a student will be questing how they can acquire experience beforehand, I will encourage the undergraduate advisees to enrol in internships during their academic career to begin the process of gaining experience prior to the job search.

• I will advise the students on the available sources of funding in order to minimise student drop out caused by lack of finance.

• Ensuring that the targets are met• Phoning and setting up appointments for interviews and

presentations • Booking school presentations• Building good relationships with principals and teachers• Doing presentations at schools and collecting databases• Capturing data for prospect on the system ( Ocean )• Conducting aptitude assessments • Interviewing prospective students and sponsors• Recording sales processes on the system• Registering prospective students • Enrolling registered students

. I will also do student research

. I will give the students proper information about CTI and MGI. I prepare my presentation. I will liaise with teachers and principals before presentation date. I must be time flexible for the benefit of the students. I will use simple terms so that students can easily understand. I will be respectful regardless of age.
