A LOOK AT WHAT WE DIDFor my internship project, I had the pleasure of working with Terri Rust along with my fellow interns Jessica Diaz and Kathy
Chambers. Our work encompassed:• Seed starting
• Collecting native riparian species cuttings • Learning about how to start a compost pile
• Plant maintenance care

• Adaptability: Approaching my internship ready for anything.• Collaboration: There is no “I” in team. We accomplish goals together as a cohesive unit.• Communication: Great understanding and teamwork come from effective communication.• Diversity: We come from diverse age groups and all walks of life. • Empathy: Being emotionally aware and sensitive to the needs of those I work with.
This internship has given me a hands-on opportunity to:• Learn about various vegetation species.• cultivate greenhouse plants.• Work with a fantastic group of people.• Appreciate the role I had in harvesting cottonwoods for local riparian restoration projects.• Learn about composting practices from a master gardener.
BIG THANK YOU
Terri Rust has been my teacher in several courses throughout my time at Feather River College. She has been pivotal in inspiring me to really sink my teeth in and pursue opportunities in natural resource management fields. Her experiences shared with me has helped to bolster my enthusiasm and personal investment in seeking out life solutions that are beneficial to the environment and all whom dwell within. I am honored to have had her as a teacher and mentor.
