“BstucThaPoet”
Birmingham, AL (BlackNews.com) -- Poet Brandan "BStuc" Stuckey has written the first book of spoken word entitled The Last Words Will Be Spoken...A Journey Into the Thoughts and Rhymes of a Poetic Mind. This book features not only the most groundbreaking poetry but also tells a compelling narrative through the eyes of the author as he blazes the trails of life with the power of the pen. The Last Words Will Be Spokentakes the reader on a proverbial journey from the pen and page to the mic and the stage.
The self proclaimed "Presidential Poet"
tackles everything from politics ("We Did
It") to passion ("Let Me Hold You Tight,"
"Contagious," etc.) to a tribute to the
author's beloved fraternity ("A Poem For
Omega") while providing an in-depth
perspective into the personal struggles
of an artist.
Each piece feels fresh and encourages a
challenging look within for feelings of
inspiration, triumph, love, victory, and
spirituality. This book not only speaks life
into the lungs of poetry but it also unites
the reader and artist through common
stories that will give you courage to step
up to the mic and let your voice be heard!
The author attended the historic A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, AL and holds a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Alabama. Stuckey has been a staple on the poetry scene for 10 years and is a member of the very distinguished poetry troupe Black on Black Rhyme. Aside from his poetry duties, BStuc serves as a writer and a motivational speaker.
"I serve a living King/So I'm something like a Fresh Prince/I am Legend and I don’t have to convince," is one of the many soulful quoteables that you'll hear from one Brandan "BStuc ThaPoet" Stuckey. Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, BStuc has been a staple on the spoken word scene for many years.
He honed his craft on numerous
microphones in the Civil Rights Capital
as a part of the Magic City Premiere
Poets Troupe. BStuc has hosted,
participated, and won several poetry
slams throughout his home state.
BStuc recalls his first poem, written for an A.H. Parker High school black history play in 1999, "U Hate Me Cuz U Ain't Me," as an ode to the civil rights struggle of the past and a guide to overcoming the Black plight for the future. After a standing ovation from a crowded auditorium, BStuc has harnessed that energy and turned into a successful poetry career.
As a member of the Black on Black Rhyme Poetry Troupe out of Tallahassee, FL, he has traveled all across the country performing, and releasing a DVD in the Spring of 2009 called the Birth-Write Vol. 1. However, it is literary contribution that has really put the world on notice. "The Last Words Will Be Spoken...A Journey Into the Thoughts and Rhymes of a Poetic Mind" was released in stores June 2010.
It is the first book of spoken word meaning not only will you receive the most groundbreaking poetry but also a detailed and structured narrative describing BStuc'screative process. He says his elements of poetry include "the deepness of Langston Hughes, the storytelling of Notorius B.I.G., the sheer rhetorical genius of Outkast, and the comedic excellence of Jamie Foxx."
When he's not on stage, BStuc works
tirelessly with his own non-profit
organization The BStuc Foundation. It was
established to assist diabetic patients
through advocacy, education, research,
and service.
BStuc holds a degree in Broadcast
Journalism from the University of South
Alabama and is a member of Omega Psi
Phi Fraternity, Inc. Known for being the
best dressed poet in the game, You can
catch BStuc ThaPoet on a microphone
