personal connection to the work. Without this, the work is artificial, forced, and carried out in isolation. Work WILL be Engaging

• Connection to Others◦ An understanding that people are social by nature and therefore will be motivated by a

• Work Must Have an Authentic Audience◦ In order for work to have real meaning, it must reach a true audience as well as have

significant impact on the world outside of the classroom.

• Work Must Be Lasting and Sustainable◦ In order for work to have real meaning, it should have permanence.
