Libraries are portals to all of the world’s knowledge

The information kept in libraries helps everyday people start their own research, innovations, businesses, which helps grow the country

There is much more to doing real research than typing a few words into a search engine such as Google. Librarians are trained to do high-level research, which supports: Scientists, Doctors, Lawyers, Professors, Writers, Government Officials, and other professionals every single day. 2. Why Library is needed ? Without library, we can’t imagine any institute or organization, because library is a server of dissemination of information to the staff, students and faculty for institutional repository information service, academic activities and research purpose.

A best practice may be innovative and be a philosophy, policy, strategy, program, process or practice that solves a problem or create new opportunities and positively impact the whole organization . “NAAC”

Format to compile Best Practices in Library and Information Services Practice: Observation of other library practices by institutional visits

Goal of the practice: The goal of the practice was to refresh the library staff members and educate them about the prevailing work practices in other college/institutional libraries.

The process: The library staff member are taken for a one-day visit to other College/ Institutional libraries to study their functioning, the purpose being to refresh them and also make them aware about the best practices followed elsewhere.

Impact of the practice: There is qualitative improvement in the services offered to the students by the staff who have become enthusiastic and resourceful Resources required: Library staff members who are open-minded and eager to know and learn the best practices followed in other libraries. Financial support from the management to organize such visits.

Library displays new arrival books every month. It helps and provides an opportunity for students and faculty to know the various types of information resources available in the respective field of study

User orientation programme creates awareness among the students and faculty about library functions, resources and services (i.e. Web OPAC, online journals, databases and their usage etc.)

The SPAV, Central Library is organizing several programmes such as orientation, user education, and workshops, conference on various issues to educate students, faculty and staff.

SPAV, Library opening and closing hour’s helps to the users, especially students during semester examination time to utilize the services optimum.

Central Library collect question papers of Planning and Architecture subject of School of planning and Architecture and are provided to student through offline and online form.

Central Library preserves clipping files on different subjects of student interest and provides it to student on demand via E-mail and hard copy. The information in clipping file is useful for research, projects and employment.

institute almost all departments are connected with internet, therefore library does not provide this facility individually to student, staff and faculty but central library has provide 5 to 6 computers with internet connection for its users.

The SPAV Central Library should take instigations of the wide activities to improve the academic- research environment of the resources i.e. books, documents in the library.

The SPAV Central Library build a background and conditions for keeping well-informed of the new and latest knowledge and practices of modern technological achievements in the field and also in the dissemination of the newest information.

The knowledge from the source to its beneficiaries or users can be disseminated in a most efficient and effective way through the adoption of the best practices.

Using best practices structure in the library will sure to advantage their user community and thus contribute to the inclusive performance in accomplishing the aims and vision of the institute.

As a Result, The adopting of effective best practices and implementation at the right time, we can build a friendly environment in the library.

Fill-up the bridge between the central library and the users for support the institute vision and mission of create a magisterial academic environment on national level.
