Day 1

Opening -- OPTIC

Your Directions…Reporters can’t be at every location that news breaks, so they

often have to work together and share information to get the

whole story.

So, you will be recording your info on other students’ papers by

exchanging with someone different for each story.

As you watch each video on an important battle or event of the

American Revolution, you will record the following information

in your News Report:

Date (Time Period)

2 Important Facts (Who, What)

1 Interesting Facts (Unique)

The Outcome (Won/Lost)

A brief summary (2 sentences) of what happened

Closing

Double Bubble – Compare in your journal any two events of

the American Revolution.

Which event do you think played the most important role in

the outcome of the War? Why?

Opening Put the following Events in Sequential Order

Treaty of Paris

Valley Forge

Lexington and Concord

Saratoga

and battles of the American Revolution.

Language Objective: By viewing short video clips and

reporting a news article on each, you will analyze the important

events and battles of the American Revolution.

Timeline Using your Reporter’s notes complete an illustrated timeline

of the Revolutionary War.

Complete your Article for the

Pennsylvania Gazette.

Using your notes (or packet) and your timeline write your

article for the Newspaper. It must follow the following format.

I. Introduction (Thesis) – 1 Paragraph (2 -3 sentences)

II. Body – 5 Paragraphs – one for each event -- (3 sentences

each)

III. Conclusion – 1 Paragraph (2 – 3 sentences)

Use Simple, Compound and Complex sentences.
