•  Discovered why these school systems had more than five rises in student performance for more than five years (most had 10+ yrs.);

•  Observed 5 of the 12 highest-performing systems, schools, and classrooms in action; and

•  Interviewed leaders, teachers, students, and others to explore how these districts consistently rank at the top in terms of quality, equity, and productivity of all children.

Our Approach

Before the trips 1.  Book study as a team. 2.  Conversations with students and others from each system.

During the trips 1.  Common questions for teachers, principals, administrators,

and students. 2.  Interviews with Ministers of education, business and

government partners, higher education, and unions. 3.  Observations of classrooms and schools.

Our Approach—After the Trips 1.  Global Education Study teams met to discuss

observations and identify common drivers of success.

2.  Shared findings with participating school systems. 3.  Leaders from school systems invited to present at

Global Education Summit about drivers most critical to their success. Attendees asked to record questions and comments.

A Collaborative Approach 1.  Global Education Study teams, leaders from the five school

systems, and others met during the Summit to synthesize findings for the monograph.

2.  BFK�Global Learning™ Collaborative comprised of leaders from the five school systems, Battelle for Kids, and others formed to continue conversations about strategies and opportunities to increase student success.
