DID YOU KNOW…..Schools have TWO basic funds:Operating Funds:pay for the costs of running the school district day to day, such as:- Teacher salaries- Busing- Curriculum Materials

Capital Funds:cover costs of new construction or renovation of buildings, such as:- New roofs - Updated building spaces- Maintenance equipment

DID YOU KNOW…..

Mandated programs by the State andGovernment are not always fullyfunded.

In the past five years, the district has spent over $2 million funding these types of mandates.

Page 15: Base for Kids Presentation

DID YOU KNOW…..

The district made $1.2 million in cuts for the 2008/2009 school

year?

Cuts Included: - Administrative Staff - Teaching staff

- Electives - Family Science

- Paraprofessionals - Supplies

Results: Increased class sizes and less student support staff.

Page 16: Base for Kids Presentation

Larger class sizes across the board Increase in the number of study halls per

trimester Less student support (continued reduction in

building admin student support) Less building upkeep Less transportation (busing) Less curriculum choice at secondary levels Fewer extra curricular activities Additional reductions in certified staff Curriculum review cycle delayed or frozen Increase in activity fees More competition as students leave for districts

with higher levy support

Potential Impacts of Levy Not Passing $2.8 Million in Cuts
