Most likely to say:

Without continuous innovation, there is no survival

Think laterally

Problems are just challenges to be solved

We need to give this very close attention

If something can go wrong it will – and that’s looking optimistically

Has it been checked?

Let’s keep the main objective in sight

Lets make sure we are all agreed before we move forward

Good delegation is an art form

I agree with your point of view

Everybody has something valuable to contribute

I’ll be as versatile as I can be

Lets not reinvent the wheel

I know someone who can help with that

XXX used to do it this way – let’s try that

A little hard work never killed anyone

The difficult we can do straight away – the impossible needs a bit more time

If it can be done – we will do it!

I’ll think it over and let you know tomorrow

Let’s weigh up the alternatives

Better make the right decision slowly than the wrong one quickly

I simply love what I do

You never stop learning

It’s all about professionalism

Just do it!

I may be blunt, but at least I am to the point

I think we can do more

What about you?

What do you think YOU are?

What do you think your colleagues might be?

Let’s find out ….

What did you discover about yourself?

Was it a surprise?

What about others in your team?

Is there too much of any one type – or too little?

The key to good teamwork

• Remain open and flexible to new ideas

• Listen to other’s suggestions and share your own

• Maintain good relationships with team members

• Always work towards the success of the task

• Prioritise team goals over individual goals

• Help team members where necessary

• Allow others to help you if necessary

Team exercise to try it all out

Let’s see how well you can work together as a team.

In your teams:

Let the challenge begin ….

Debrief

It wasn’t an exercise in winning, it was an exercise in team development

What happened? Who led, who didn’t like not leading?

Were there arguments? How were they resolved?

Did you notice people behaving to Belbin type? Examples?

The Commission

For the rest of the commission, work in your teams to continue to fulfil the requirements of the commission. Your tutor will speak with each team to discuss progress to date and help unpick any problems you might be encountering

Remember to look for examples of teamworking in action

Before the next workshop:

Read:Communication in the course reader – refresh your memory of its contents. There are also some videos in the OLE that you should also watch in advance of the next workshop
