HOW TO UTILIZE GUMBALL MATH WORD PROBLEMS

“Miss Charles has 5 orange gumballs. Brian has 7 red gumballs. If Miss Charles and Brian combine their gumballs, how many orange and red gumballs are there together?”

COLOR AWARENESS Color of the gumballs: red, orange, purple, green, yellow, pink, etc.

MULTIPLICATION 6 groups of 3 gumballs- 6 X 3= ?

CHARTS Gumball color graph:

RELATION TO UNIVERSAL DESIGN Utilizing a SMARTboard in the classroom to teach math allows technology

to reach all children– no matter their socioeconomic status Gumball math is something intriguing that all students can most likely

relate to regardless of socioeconomic status, race, language, background, religion, culture, etc.
