In the television and film industry, companies have the choice of contract they offer their employees. The major contract offers are short-term, were the company director will want you to work at their company for a period of 2-3 months. Whereas, a long-term contract are commonly used in the television and film industry and it means the organisation will want you to work for them on a long-term basis. If you are performing well in your job and meeting the company’s targets, then they have the option as to whether they should offer you a contract extension. This may involve you moving up in the hierarchy or offer you a pay rise. Contract extensions take place when you are close to your contract ending, and the employer will have the alternative to carry on working at the organisation or to reject the terms they are offering you. From what I have briefly explained, I know understand the type of contracts that people can sign and type of situations they may come across.

As part of a company’s objective, ensuring their employers information is confidential and no one can access it other than them. The confidentiality between the director and the employer is to reach an agreement for them not to give people your information, as they are prohibited. Companies are not allowed to reveal a person’s name, their background, financial history and possibly their history of illnesses. Going back to the part about discussing contracts, part of the part should briefly explain confidentially agreements and whether they have permission to give information to other parties. Commonly, information of peoples test results and personal data is one that companies do use. If I emphasized the situation from an employer’s point of view, I will not want any private information being shared. This will make you feel exposed and possibly can your behaviour towards the people who shared your information. Even though this word may not associate to the television and film industry, but rationalisation is a good word to express your behaviour. This word can be defined as finding an acceptable excuse for something, which is unacceptable, so you will be justifying actions to yourself and believing it.

Owners of companies around the world think of ways they can expand the popularity of a company. This can be done through an exclusivity agreement. This agreement is a contract that normally consists of two or more companies to sustain a successful relationship in the coming years. This agreement helps instruct you not to engage in any activities with other business; with you are under the exclusivity contract. In terms of employment contract, each individual are forbidden to talk to other companies or engage in activities with another organisation. This be written on your contract or your employer will add additional clauses that state you cannot associate with other companies.

Every company around the world have to make codes of practise to elucidate the regulations of a company to comply with its ethical issues. The reason why companies have to be complacent with these regulations because it is to allows you to minimise risks that can happen within the workplace. The following summary outlines the policies of each BBC channel and ways to make each channel better in the future. These statements set out the Controller's vision for each of the BBC's services for the coming year and any notable editorial developments or programmes. Television companies write these guidelines to its members to help them comply with its ethical issues. Using the BBC as an example, they have to comply with the set of rules that have been ordered by OFCOM. OFCOM’s main expertise in the communications and they regulate both the television and radio industries. According to the OFCOM website, it briefly states ‘Ofcom is required under the Communications Act 2003 (as amended) ("the Act") and the Broadcasting Act 1996 (as amended) ("the 1996 Act") to draw up a code for television and radio, covering standards in programmes, sponsorship, product placement in television programmes, fairness and privacy. This Code is to be known as the Ofcom Broadcasting Code ("the Code")’. From what I understand, they are trying to remind television broadcasters of the legislations they have to abide or they may be penalized for their actions. Going back to the BBC, they are public limited company and service provider that is funded by the government. The reason behind the BBC’s code and practice regulations is to support up and coming independent production sectors in the television industry. The regulations introduced include; the ‘arrangements to review, monitor and ensure whether the BBC fulfills the rules given to them by OFCOM’. This means that every programme created by the BBC have to be monitored by OFCOM to see whether they meet the suitability requirements.

There are many social concerns that many people face everyday. The BBC produced a programme regarding racism in football, especially one month before the Euro 2012 competition. One BBC correspondent went to visit both Ukraine and Poland to find out more on hooliganism both countries. Ukraine and Poland football fans are mostly known for their behaviour shown towards people of a different race. When I last watched Panorama, the programme which televised this, there was recording of Asian students at a football game supporting their teams, but there were outrageous footages of them being beaten up by a group of racist hooligans. When the UEFA officials announced that the tournament will be staged at both countries, man people started to question their decision as to why the great tournament will be staged in these countries. Panorama also showed evidence of racial evidence and anti-Semitism at the heart of both countries. The BBC showed footage of a big game that took place in Kiev, between Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk and after the game both sets of fans went several miles out of Kiev to have an old fashioned fight. When the reported spoke with these fans they stated that the fight was training so they are to be ready for the English fans. These fans have always had a grudge with the English and they want to teach them a lesson for coming to their country. The BBC were brilliant in trying to get footage of the fans talking amongst each other and getting secret footage of both set of fans fighting. I was already aware of the fact that racism still happens in football, with many black players refusing to continue a football when being abused. But for them to show these shocking images and comments has opened up eyes a bit more. I think it was good for people to understand what it is actually happening in countries that are 30 years stuck in the past. It is absolutely ridiculous.

On 13th September 2012, many Muslims protests spread across the whole of the Middle East and North Africa. This came days after the US released a trailer for a film that mocked the Muslim faith and their prophets. Protests became very difficult to stop and it started to go out of control. The BBC

addressed it in a way that supported these protests, especially Jeremy Bowen; the BBC Middle East editor understands how important people’s religion is. One of his quotes stands out from his whole analysis is, ‘religion defines lives and is part of people’s identities in a way Europeans forgot long ago’. In my opinion, this quote infers that rules every Muslim around the world is part of their way of life. Many European countries believe different traditions of Christianity, from Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox, Baptists and Anglicans. With Islam, there is a set of rules that every Muslim has to abide and there are no different types of Islam. In my opinion, the BBC does sometimes address Muslims to be bad people and do like to associate us wit the word ‘terrorists’. My own definition of terrorism is the systematic use of terror in which means of coercion are used. Let look at terrorism from another perspective, when the US army did in Hiroshima, Japan with unleashing a nuclear bomb on the city, no one considered this as ‘terrorism’. They may have been in war at the time, but killing a substantial amount of innocent children and families is not acceptable. If a Muslim were to do something like this onto another country, then the headlines will be all over the world stating their hatred as the religion Islam. Also, Muslim females are being denied jobs because they want to wear the full ‘niqab’, clothing normally used by females to cover their whole body and face, with their eyes being visible. This goes to show how biased they are towards females who wish to cover themselves up. These biased opinions definitely came from France, who have issued a penalty of €150 euros, which is equivalent to £126. Many countries in Europe are keen to introduce similar penalties and I think it is absolutely outrageous. Islam states that all females have to cover themselves to avoid them getting hurt. Overall, there are people who will have biased views on certain things and religion number one.
