Juno OTS

Establishment of character in first scene

Establishing the setting and the location

Page 3: Assignment 25

Tells us the name of the distribution company first because they have ownership of the film and have invested money into it

The OTS becomes animated (it is not uncommon for OTSs to be animated )

Distribution company is placed on the bottom-left in the colored area as people will identify it quickly as it it is in an area that is bright green and the font size is large.

Page 4: Assignment 25

Shows the production company next because they produced the film and created it. They placed it second as it is not as important as the distribution company as the production company doesn’t own the film.

The production company is a different color to those on the screen – stands out.

The production company is placed at the center-left (beside the main character) of the screen and is the second largest object on the screen

Page 5: Assignment 25

Director’s name is the first credit because they play an important role in the production of the film (above the actors as they come after).

Text is bright to help it stand out. It’s placed on the center-right of the screen, next to the main character

Page 6: Assignment 25

The title of the film is located next to the main character (center-right) to show the audience that the film is about her (or revolved around her), giving the audience a brief insight on what the film could be about.

The title of the film comes before the actors (showing that it is more important) so that the audience knows what the film is called.

The last title to be presented in the film as it is the least important (but still very important).

The list of actors/actresses names in order of importance (most important being first) are plotted at different points around the frame (in the grid format (the rules of thirds)).

Actors are then the second placed credits as they are important because they are the ones who star in the film and they are the ones the audience most recognizes in a film

How is this inspirational for your project?

• We learnt that it is important to place credits according to the rule of thirds (grid format) to make them easier to find.

• I shows us that the best way to present our OTS is to place the distribution company first (the most important) and then the actors and rest of the people involved in the film.

• To make film credits stand out can make it easier for people to find. • We now know the sequence of events (in terms of credits) in which we do

our OTS. • We know that we must establish the most important thing in our OTS to

make sure our audience quickly understands what the film is based on (works with some linear OTSs).
