Conditional Formatting in MS Excel

Excel’s conditional formatting lets you change the appearance of a cell based on its value or another cell's value.Steps of using Conditional Formatting:1. Select the cells to which you want to apply conditional formatting.2. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click the Conditional Formatting button.3. Choose the rule you want to apply or make new rule.

Puzzle game in Excel

This is activity where we are creating an interactive game for elementary school students challenging them

to answer on questions from certain subject. If they type in the correct answer a tile will reveal part of a

picture. If they type in the incorrect answer the part of the picture will not be revealed.

Steps:

1. Insert a Background Picture:

2. Change Column Width and Height:

3. Add Fill to the Worksheet;4. Add Borders to Worksheet;5. Next you will need to set up the cells that will contain the questions;6. Adding Questions to Worksheet;7. Specify cells where students will put answers on questions;

8. On cells with answers use Conditional formatting- Highlight cells Rules-equal to ( not equal to) “answer of the question” and chose color.9. Applying conditional formatting to the picture squares; Click in Cell A1 and with the Home tab selected click Conditional Formatting > New Rule
