Artist Image Manipulation

I started with this image, after loading it into Adobe Photoshop. I neeed to get rid of the background, so it could be placed into my Front Cover without contrasting against the colours used.

In order to get rid of the background I used the Magic Eraser tool. This allowed me to quickly and effectively remove large parts of the background, which consisted of the same colours.

After removing the larger parts of background, I had to use the original rubber in order to remove the individual-coloured pieces. In order to do this, I made the rubber size become 110 after entering the settings.

After removing the background, I used Hue/Saturation to make my subjects skin look lighter and revered the lightness at the same time – thus making him stand out and contrast against the new dark background I was planning on using.

This is my final product, complete with the image after it has been placed against the dark background. I have cropped the image, placed it onto the background and then added text, alongside the magazine’s Masthead and other titles accordingly. I also arranged this so it matched the rules of Guttenburg’s design principle, which validates the strongest optical areas.
