ARIZONA METH LAWS•Possession of Methamphetamine

is a class 4 felony

•Possession of methamphetamine in Arizona can put you in prison for

5-10 years.

•Second offense can put you in prison for 15 years

Penalties for Selling or Having a Meth Lab

•  For the sale of crystal meth, the fines may be as high as $1,000,000 and the prison term is based on the amount sold, or intended to be sold.

• It is illegal to possess crystal meth, as well as to possess the chemicals used to manufacture the drugs.  Regardless of the amount of drugs or chemicals in possession, the fines and prison terms will be the maximum amount allowable based on the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.  Federal mandatory penalties for crystal meth possession:

• 50 or more grams – mandatory minimum 10 years in prison with a maximum of life in prison

• 5 or more grams – mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison with a maximum term of 40 years in prison

Largest Highway Meth Bust in Arizona History

• DPS makes a huge drug bust on Interstate 10. Close to $1 million worth of meth is in the hands of authorities. It's the largest single seizure on the highway in Arizona history. 18-year-old Joshio Amarillas was arrested Monday after a DPS officer found 68 pounds of meth in his pickup just South of the Pinal County line.
