Magazine Advert

Here is a magazine advert for the Arctic Monkeys 2013 album ‘AM’. This simplistic magazine advert with a strong black background will stand out against other adverts. The retro rock styled logo looks like a heart beat sensor, and has the name of the title hidden in the middle subtly in the centre. Along with the highly contrasting white and black colours, it is very unique and thus engaging for the audience. The bands name is also clearly shown in a bigger font size to the other text shown, to highlight and emphasise the band.

Music Video

This is a print screen from the music video for the Arctic Monkeys single ‘Do I Wanna Know’. As you can see, there is identical use with the heart beat sensor, retro rock logo used in the magazine advert previously shown. This synergy will enhance the audiences perception of this logo and associate it further with the band and its upcoming album. In the video, the logo goes up and down, matching the base rhythm of the song and the different riffs. Also, later on in the video the logo moulds to an outline of a woman, indicating Laura Mulvey's male gaze theory.

Album Cover/DigipakHere is the album cover/digipak for the Arctic Monkey's recent album 'AM' released in 2013. Further synergy is used here as the same heart beat sensor, retro rock styled logo is continued onto their actual cover, matching the previous magazine ad and music video of one of their pre-released signal to advertise the album overall. Also, we see why this logo is so reoccurring, as it is the for the album. For the digipak, it is very similar to the magazine advert with the use of contrasting colours for the song titles and band logo, for effect and to stand out.
