Appleby Street

Analysis of new script

Page 2: Appleby street 2

Initial script

• Initially, our script contained very low amounts of dialogue and background sounds.

• Unfortunately, over the top of our script we could hear loud noises of the wind in the background of our filming, and so using Final Cut Pro, we muted the sounds.

• Also, after looking back on our initial script, we came to the conclusion that it had no real structure to it, and so we decided to re-write the script, making necessary changes which we felt would appease the genre and the target audience.

New Script:

• The Appleby Street road sign appears in a dusk setting, so that it creates an element of ‘spookiness’ but yet is more pleasant than unpleasant.

• Ben stands, waiting at a tree, calling out to Aimee who he is waiting for; “come on, we haven’t got all day!”

• Aimee, walking towards him, replies; “I’m coming”

The shortcut!

• Aimee asks Ben; “Shall we go through the shortcut?”• Ben replies; “Yeah go on then”, but as they head through

the shortcut there is a slight sense of fear on the characters faces,

• Ben and Aimee walk though an alley (the shortcut) when Ben changes his certainty about the shortcut and says; “I don’t think this is a good idea, should we go back?”

• Aimee questions him; “What, are you scared?”• Ben attempts to cover his uncertainty by saying; “No, I was

just checking on you.” with the fear on Bens face getting substantially greater.

• Whilst walking down the alley, Aimee attempts to scare Ben by saying; “Did you hear about that old story about that masked mad man?”

• To which Ben replies with anxiety; “No, why? What happened?”

• Aimee further increases Bens fears when she says; “Maybe its not true. But Appleby Street is where his victims stay and rot.”

• Ben asks; “Well, what did he do?”

Page 6: Appleby street 2

• Aimee starts the story; “late at night, the masked man would wait for his victims to enter his lair”

• Then, a shot of the masked mad mans face in a darkened place in the woods continuing the story; “then I wait for the group to split up”

• Reversed back to Aimee: “Then, when alone, it is the boy that the man kills first” the fear in Bens face intensifies.

• Killer: “then I wait for the girl to see the body, and give her time to run.”

• Aimee: “then he confronts the girl, and waits for the girl to corner herself.”

• Killer: “then, with my knife, I stab her to death.” then looks up to the camera and laughs.

• Ben and Aimee walk out of the alley and a shot of the Appleby Street sign appears when it is darker to highlight the stages of tension the film has gone through.

• Then, they walk through the gate into the field, where they continue there journey through some of the filed.

• However, Aimee’s phone rings and so tells Ben to walk on as she takes the call.

• Ben cautiously continues.

• After finishing the call, Aimee walks to catch up with Ben.

• On her way she stumbles across something and discovers Bens body, lying dead upon the floor.

• She starts to run through the woods.• The killer confronts Aimee, and says; “we both

know how this ends.”• He stabs her to death.• And, the picture fades out, indicating the end.
