Character Education: Anti-Bullying WebQuest Welcome: Welcome to your building character WebQuest! Today, your 5 th grade class will be researching an important life skill: why not to bully other kids! Introduction: This may seem like a strange thing to learn about in school because it doesn’t have anything to do with math, science, English, or any of the usual subjects. This should not seem so strange though, because bullying happens every day in school and it can have a negative impact on both the bully’s life and the person being bullied. This WebQuest is going to help you learn more about what bullying is, and why it is so important to stop it from happening! Task: The task for this WebQuest will be mostly individually based work. The reason for this is because a lot of the work is self-reflection writing and note taking in a graphic organizer. At the very end, you will be assigned into groups of three and will act out a scenario of someone being bullied, and what someone should say to stop that bullying.

Character Education: Anti-Bullying WebQuest

Welcome:Welcome to your building character WebQuest! Today, your 5th grade class

will be researching an important life skill: why not to bully other kids!

Introduction:This may seem like a strange thing to learn about in school because it

doesn’t have anything to do with math, science, English, or any of the usual subjects. This should not seem so strange though, because bullying happens every day in school and it can have a negative impact on both the bully’s life and the person being bullied. This WebQuest is going to help you learn more about what bullying is, and why it is so important to stop it from happening!

Task:The task for this WebQuest will be mostly individually based work. The

reason for this is because a lot of the work is self-reflection writing and note taking in a graphic organizer. At the very end, you will be assigned into groups of three and will act out a scenario of someone being bullied, and

what someone should say to stop that bullying.

Individually, you will be graded on how much of your graphic organizer is filled out, and on your written self-reflections. As a group you will be graded on how well you worked with others, and how organized and accurate your

bullying scenario was.

Process:The following tasks are numbered in the order in which they should be

accomplished.

1: Obtain a graphic organizer from your folder in the folder bin. There will be only one in each folder; if you need an extra you will have to come

directly to me to receive it.

2: The next thing you will need to do is click on each of the links in the order they appear to either research about bullying or informational videos

on bullying. While you are researching and watching videos you will be writing down facts you learn in each of the bubbles in your graphic

organizer.

3: After completing step 2, you will go and get your writing folder to start your self-reflections. You will have two writing assignments to complete.

They are listed below. Write a reflection on how you felt while doing your research for

this WebQuest. Did it remind you of a time you were bullied? Did you feel sad that bulling goes on? Anything about how you felt about the information you were finding.

Write a reflection about a time you remember that YOU were being a bully. Describe the situation and then write about what you would do differently now that you have researched about anti-bullying. Why did you do it? Do you want to find the person and apologize? Do you feel badly, and wish you wouldn’t have done it at all?

4: After completing both of your writing assignments, you will put your writing folder back where they belong and you will go to your folder in the folder bin and there will be a piece of paper with your group number on it and who is in your group of three. After getting this paper, you will find your group members and work together to

come up with a scenario to act out.

5: When everyone is finished their scenario, you will be called by group number to perform it. At the beginning of your performance,

Page 3: Anti-Bullying WebQuest

you must announce what each of your roles are. There will only be three roles: The Bully, The Bullied, and The Stopper

So the scenario will consist of a bully being mean to the bullied and the stopped will intervene and stop the whole situation.

Use your creative juices! The scenario can be anything as long as it is school appropriate and kind!

Good luck and have fun!
