The senior girls volleyball team was at CCI this Saturday for a 6 team tournament. It was the first time all season that the girls were faced with opponents that were not the single A division. We faced Collingwood first and the girls played a great game, staying close in both sets and keeping it very competitive. We then faced Barrie North where despite losing the first set, we were able to come back and win the second. In our third game we faced Midlands St-Theresa’s who dominated the whole tournament not losing a set. Our only hiccup with our level of play for the day was against Bear Creek where we had a few breakdowns and didn’t play our best volleyball. Our final game of the day was the most important, as it was against our biggest league rivals … Le Caron. This was a very important game for our team as we will likely face them in playoffs in order to advance to the GBSSA finals. The girls rebounded so well from their last game and brought a renewed energy and enthusiasm to this game. They played excellent defence and finally starting to move as one. With both sets going back and forth we were able to come out on top and win two straight sets against their very strong team. This gave our girls a ton of confidence that we hope to carry over into our 3 games this week, starting with Elmvale tonight. Great job ladies, Ms Polasek could not be more proud of your accomplishments. Let’s keep this momentum going!
