I have chosen to annotate this School magazine because it contains many forms

and conventions magazine need in

order to interest the reader so they will buy the magazine.

THE MASTHEADTHE MASTHEAD

The masthead is the name of the magazine which is conventionally placed at the top of the front cover so it is the first feature the reader looks at. The colour and the font of the masthead stands out as a result of the contrast between the dark green and the bright pink

which also reinforces the fact that the magazine is focused on the lives of children.

THE TAG LINE AND THE IMAGETHE TAG LINE AND THE IMAGE

The front cover also includes a tag line which states ‘Parents guide to primary school’ which demonstrates who the magazine may be aiming their target audience at and it

gives readers an idea of what is featured inside the magazine.

The image is very important because it is the first feature viewers look at and it paints a clear picture of what the

genre or style of the magazine is. The central image is of a young girl in school uniform which immediately displays that the magazine is about school life and it is a guide for

parents with children just starting school.

SECONDARY IMAGESSECONDARY IMAGES The magazine has used secondary

images to display what else is included in the magazine and so that the reader is enticed by the pictures as it provides audiences with a sneak peak of what is inside. There are a few cover lines informing readers of the magazines content which follows conventions of the layout of magazines. The cover lines include techniques such as rhetorical questions so the reader asks themselves the same question.

THE PUFFTHE PUFF

Puffs are normally held in a shape; conventionally in the form of a circle which is what this school

magazine has applied as it is a creative way to advertise more about what the magazine has to offer. Puffs also help to capture the readers attention and to

promote other elements inside. The puff writes ‘Plus notice board’ which suggests

that the magazine is sharing some extra information and news with the readers.
