X claims to be a soldier from the year 2036, a member of the Florida Fighting Diamondbacks Military. He was sent in 1975 to retrieve an IBM PC which according to him was necessary to solve a big problem in the future. However, he took a detour and ended up in year 2000 for "personal reasons".

He made various random predictions about the future, some of them quite specific in nature. However none of them came out to be true. Yet, due to the widespread media attention he received, X has been mentioned in pop culture many times, most notably in a 2011 Anime.

acrobats, wrestlers, gymnasts and strongmen of the 1930’s, who were icons of incredible strength and athleticism.

Another reason is that paper quality was initially shoddy and printing technology primitive, necessitating the use of sharp, clean, well defined edges.

It was thus a way for artists to quickly and easily add detail to the lower half of what they were drawing.

Q11. X & Y?

X is the main character of the eponymous anime X, loosely translated to Bean Bun Boy ( because X’s head is made of bread). It is one of the most popular anime series amongst young children in Japan and has been on air since 1988. Bandai’s research in 2011 found X to be the most popular fictional character among people of ages 0 to 12 in Japan for 10 consecutive years. In 2009, Guinness verified X to have the highest number of characters in an animated franchise with 1768 characters in the first 980 episodes. X is a superhero and a symbol of justice for the town and his weaknesses are water & anything dirty. His super attacks are punch and kick ( with stronger variants of both ).

X is said to have inspired the design of Y - which is a play on the name X. Y is a viral webcomic (surpassing 7.9 million hits in 2012) and later, manga and anime. The series was nominated for an Eisner award in 2015. Y is also about a superhero, who is bored of his powers, in a world full of strange monsters that mysteriously appear and cause disaster.

Q13.

According to X’s creator Vincent Connare, John Costanza’s lettering on the Watchmen series was his primary inspiration.

Over the years, X has been the subject of widespread contempt, owing to its incongruous use for writing on serious subjects.

According to Dave Gibbons, the illustrator behind Watchmen, "I think what he came up with was vastly inferior, certainly to John Costanza's lettering and I think also to mine. And I'd have much rather they'd just come to John or me and said: "Look, can you do some hand lettering for us?". I'm sure we would have done it really, really cheaply and I'm sure that what's out there would look a lot cleaner and a lot better.”

Q14. The following is a short description of the main characters of SpongeBob Squarepants.

Patrick: Lays under a rock all the time and doesn't really do anything. Squidward: Hates his life, hates SpongeBob, and is pretty much angry most of the time. Mr. Krabs: Rich and obsessed with money. Over the series he makes various plans to earn

more money, and some of the times, ends up losing them. Plankton: Always had a dislike for Mr. Krabs because of the fact that his restaurant isn't as

successful as "The Krusty Krab". Even tries to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula. Gary: Part of a running gag in the series, where different characters keep reminding

SpongeBob that he's "gotta go feed Gary". Even ran away at a time when SpongeBob forgot to feed him

Sandy: Takes joy/satisfaction on the fact that she's from Texas, and unlike others she's a land mammal. Even tried to prove that land critters are better than sea critters.

SpongeBob: Always overeager to do good and help people. Behaves kindly to everyone around him, even if they don't.

Give X and name the anime.

These descriptions are the reason for a popular fan theory which states that the main characters of SpongeBob Squarepants are representations of X.

The group of antagonists in a popular anime series are also named on the basis of X. They also posses the same characteristics as of those given in the previous slide, albeit on an extreme level.

Q16.

Before Bob the Builder could be aired in Japan, his hands had to be altered to have five fingers instead of the usual four.

Similar treatment was meted out to other foreign cartoon characters, such as Postman Pat.

This was done because the authorities thought the sight of hands with 4 digits would be alarming to Japanese children, for a very particular reason.
