EGG OSMOSIS EXPERIMENT

Page 2: angela816 Egg Osmosis Experiment

PURPOSE

• To observe osmosis

in a cell.

• Steps:

1. Place 2 eggs in

vinegar (leave

for 24 hrs)

2. Measure the

weight of the

eggs

Placing Egg in

Vinegar

PURPOSE

3. Measure the size/circumference of the eggs

4. Place 1 egg in corn syrup, place other in water. (Leave for 24hrs)

5. Weigh and measure the eggs again.Egg Placed in

Corn Syrup

CONCLUSION (WATER EGG)

• Water Egg increased in

size/weight

• High concentration goes

to Low concentration

• Water - high

concentration

• Egg – low concentration

• water concentration

equal on both the water

and the egg must be

equalHigh to Low Concentration

(Water particles moved into

the egg.)

Page 11: angela816 Egg Osmosis Experiment

CONCLUSION (CORN SYRUP EGG)

• Egg decreased in size/weight:• High concentration

goes to Low concentration

• Corn syrup - low concentration

• Egg - High concentration

• water concentration equal on both the water and the egg must be equal

High to Low Concentration

(Water particles moved out

of the egg.)
