Children If children were sick at birth they were put on a hill to die.

Children were allowed to play until age seven. Once they were seven girls had to learn domestic skills and boys had to go to school.

During their years of playing they would enjoy dolls, spinning tops, hoops, and yo-yos.

SportsMen in ancient Greece took the Olympics very seriously and trained at gymnasiums very often for this event.

Greeks participated in events such as long-jump, throwing the discus, javelin, boxing, wrestling, chariot and horse races, and even poetry or drama competitions.

Sports

The winner of the Olympics would receive a wreath to wear on their head.

Food/DrinkThe Greeks picked grapes to make wine. They would add water and squeeze the juice from the grapes, this was done regularly.

Fishing was another way that Greeks would go about getting their food. They ate many different kinds of fish including mullet, sturgeon, eel, octopus, and squid.

Food/Drink

Greeks did not have salt, so when they wanted to sweeten their food they used honey instead.

SchoolOnly boys went to school because it was thought that girls needed to learn domestic skills.

At school reading, writing, math, music, poetry, sports, and gymnastics were the subjects taught.

For writing the students used papyrus.

Homes

Greek homes were built with mud bricks and roofed with pottery tiles.

The floors were made with mosaic or plaster.

All the windows were high up so thieves could not break in.
