Analysis of Previous Students Work

Molly PerrymanWWW: I really like the opening affects, it is a very affective way of leading the audience into the music video. Added the this the camera movements move in a way that seams to lead on to each shot which creates a good sense of flow throughout the music video. The cuts work well and are in time with the music. The shooting material is appropriate to the task and a close attention has been paid to mise en scene. I think that the music video is conventional of this sort of genre. The locations fit with the post apocalyptic setting which is described in the song.

EBI: Some of the shots are a bit to shaky as well as being to dark. Also some of the singing was slightly out of sync. But overall the music video was very affective and professional.

Manuela Ali WWW: Some of the transitions and cross fades were quite creative and seamed to fit with the music video genre. The performance from the person miming was also pretty good.

EBI: The shooting material wasn’t very thought out and was quite basic, the pans from the camera were shaky and stiff. The editing was continual but very basic, little was added and this could have improved some of the bad shots and making the video more engaging. There was not much attention to detail in the mise en scene other than the dinner scene. There was a few continuity errors in the performers hair as seen in the last shot she looks like a completely different person.

EBI: I felt that it took a long time to actually get into the music video, I think that the opening sequence could have been cut down a lot. In addition the shot of the person texting went on far to long and was uncharacteristic of a music video of this genre. I also thought that there weren’t enough of a variation in the shots of the performer. It could have done with a few shots of the front for the performer.

WWW: I liked the use of editing I thought that was very affective although it could have been quicker as the pace of the song is very fast. The use of lighting was competent and it was conventional with the type of music video shot in a recording studio. The performance was also pretty good but he could have been a bit more energetic.

Marking of BlogsFor this task we had to review previous students blogs, specifically their Research and Planning, Main Task, Ancillary Tasks and their Evaluation. I managed to guess the majority of marks close to the actual mark. I found this very useful as when you create your own blog and tasks it is difficult to distance yourself from your work. When you analyse other peoples work in this way it highlights what you could do better and what you can avoid from doing in the first place.
