WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE(IB)

“The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation offering four highly respected programmes of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Schools must be authorized, by the IB organization, to offer any of the programmes.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a continuum of international education.

The programmes encourage ones personal and academic achievement.

The program was originally a standard curriculum for students moving from one country to another .

This programme also provides international standards of evaluation.

ORIGIN OF INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

It was originated at Geneva in 1962 for three main reason :

1. PedagogicalTo provide an education which placed an

emphasis on critical thinking skills.2. Idealistic

To promote intellectual understanding and provide students with an international perspective.3. Pragmatic

To provide a diploma which would be recognized for entry to higher education around the world.

INCLUSIVENESS AND IBInclusion is a continuing process, that includes all

learners to identify ones barrier and eliminate those.

o Develop a more diverse, inclusive IB community by enabling access to an IB education

o The school supports access for students to the IB programme and the philosophy.

o Collaborative planning and reflection incorporates differentiation for students learning needs and styles.

o Teaching and learning differentiates instruction to meet students learning needs and styles

THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (1970)

The content of IB diploma programme has a international perspective. It will study on

The component of world literature. World independence on economics Different cultural accounts Cultural origins of mathematics and

science Different historical event courses

MIDDLE YEAR PROGRAMME(MYP)-(1994)

The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical

connections between their studies and the real world.

Build confidence in managing their own learning Learn by doing, connecting the classroom to the

larger world Consistently have greater success in IB Diploma

Programme examinations Develop an understanding of global challenges

and a commitment to act as responsible citizens.

PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME (PYP)-(1997)

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for students aged 3-12

The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners .

Make them capable to contribute to create a better world.

Students in the PYP perform better than the national average in nationwide science tests.

CAREER-RELATED CERTIFICATE –(2012)

The IB Career-related certificate is for students aged 16-19.

This is a framework of international education.

IBCC encourage one in career-related education to benefit from elements of an IB Diploma programme.

The IBCC provides an international perspective for national vocational courses.
