Definition An adjective is a word which qualifies a noun, that is, shows or points out some distinguishing mark or feature of the noun. oThey typically ask the questionso Which one?o What kind?o How many?EXAMPLE : A tall man ate ice cream.

Adjectives are used to clarify nouns.Adjectives can be one word or a group of words.Adjectives can also be used with certain verbs (such as
the verb "to be"). Adjectives are used to clarify the subject that is doing the action, adjectives are not used to clarify the verb.
Adjectives are used to describe color, material, shape, size, amount, price, quality, origin, personality, weight, temperature, weight, age, direction, etc.
Adjectives are neither singular or plural. They remain the same. They never take a final -s

Descriptive These types of adjectives add detail or description to the noun
Example: The tall man thought he could reach the top shelf of the bookcase.
StrongWEAK
Limiting These types of adjectives specify or limit the noun.
Example: Saturday, Oregon plays USC before what should be a sellout crowd.
PredicateThis is a special type of adjective that follows a linking verb and modifies (directly refers to) the subject of the sentence
Example: People are interested in this game.
VerbalsTwo types of verbals can acts as adjectives. Participles are always adjectives and may end in EN, ED or ING. Infinitives (TO+VERB) may act as adjectives, adverbs or nouns.
Example: Playing tough defense, both teams push the ball up the floor and score a lot of points.
