Created jobs for over two million young unmarried men in conservation work and parks.

Considered one of the most successful. Employed 3 million workers and created many roads, bridges, and buildings.

Created to serve as a federal "watchdog" administrative agency to protect public and private investors from stock market fraud, deception and insider manipulation on Wall Street. The SEC is still in existence.

Successful at making it safer to buy stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
SSA Social Security Administration

STATED PURPOSE
a national pension fund for retired persons, an unemployment insurance system, and public assistance programs for dependent mothers, children, and the physically disabled. The pension was financed by a payroll tax to begin in 1937.
SUCCESSFUL?
Still in existence today. Over the years it has been expanded to provide more services. It accounts for nearly a quarter of the federal budget. By the year 2035 SSA will be able to cover only 75% of its current obligations.
TVA Tennessee Valley Authority

STATED PURPOSE Created for the economic development of the Tennessee River watershed. The TVA built twenty dams to control flooding, generate hydroelectrical power, increase agricultural production, and revitalize the Tennessee Valley region. The TVA also provided jobs, low-cost housing, reforestation and other services.
SUCCESSFUL?
Still in existence today. One of the most successful projects dealing with generation of electricity, deforestation and flood control.
WPA Works Progress Administration

STATED PURPOSE
Employed 8.5 million workers in construction and other jobs, also provided work in arts, theater, and literary projects.
SUCCESSFUL?
Employed 8,5 million people. WPA employees built bridges, roads, public buildings, public parks and airports. Average salary was $42 per month
