Some Findings

The surface area to volume ratio across building 0.3-0.4types is about constant

EWC housing is more compact, surface are to floor space is controlled leading to rectilinear plans

High Inco0.3-0.4me Group housing is loose with a proliferation of surface with respect to usable floor area. In order to regain the balance of external surface are it becomes imperative to increase the height of the block.

IMPLICATIONS

There is little difference in profitability across house types in terms of Production. The difference lies in Sales

IDEAS1. Housing that maintains and proliferates diversity. Do not Colonize lifestyles

with the pressures of tenure. Relook at human Activity rather than mechanized Function.

2. Redefine Affordability for a variety of ways in which housing becomes accessible.

3. Consider the organized construction industry, including the speculator and the builder as part of the mechanism that provides Housing Infrastructure.

4. Enfranchise people to build and manage their own environments.

5. Accept the informal sector as a legitimate player in the provision of housing. It has always been so. The informal has a much greater agility to Register the subtleties of natural systems and inbed them into the fabric of cities.
