Adobe-After effects CS6

Adobe After effects is used for creating motion graphics and visual text. Many films and TV programmes are produced using this software.

We will use After effects to create our film title. We decided to use after effects so we can make our titles graphically appealing to the audience and in keeping with modern day texts.

In the way after effects was used in Iron man 3, we hope to use the software to same effect in order to create a professional looking title, with a motion.

Title design

We used the ‘Art of the title’ website in order to research titles. We made research power points for title sequences for real life texts.

Due to the fact our film will sit within the action/adventure genre, we took a real interest in the opening titles of these films such as panic room. As you can see in the photo, the designers for Panic room deciding to integrate the titles with the setting and surroundings. We liked this idea as we felt it added a natural look to the film and took away the attention from the audience to the man made/artificial side of the film. We found that by integrating titles with the surroundings it made for a more enjoyable watch and inclined us to continue watching. We were also hoping for it to add a deep sinister foreshadowing to the film and educated viewers would suggest that the slick, neat title design and minimal attention they paid to them meant that the film would involve some secrecy and hiding.

This is the design for our title for our film, which we are aiming to put at the end of our opening sequence. By using after effects, we are hoping to create such an affect that the audience is left wandering what happens next? Through the use of motions and sounds we will leave the opening title sequence on a cliff hanger. The title will land on screen with a sudden ‘thumping’ sound to scare and intimidate the audience. Instantly suggestive of the action present in the film.
