Learn Before You Leap• Listen more than you speak and ask
questions• Don’t make assumptions about people’s
beliefs
Relevance
• Topics that should be discussed are :• Islamic ideology like Tawheed• Personal responsibility• Islam’s solutions to modern issues
like drug abuse, teen pregnancy, and crime
• Islamic environmentalism, economic theory, social activism, and liberation of women can also be discussed
• Important not to discuss past Islamic successes and past Prophets in ancient times too much
Gender-Consciousness• Be careful when speaking about the
position of women in Islam• Read about the status of women in
Islam yourself before speaking about it• Point out differences between Western
feminism and Islamic feminism• Avoid discussing polygamy
Western Society•Western Society is primarily focused on the materialistic aspects of this world
•Religion and the concept of God have diminished from society
•Our time is similar to the period of ignorance before Islam
•It is our duty to call people to Islam
Power of Words•The words you choose may be more important than the idea you express
•Be careful when using Islamic terminology
•Some Islamic terminology may be misunderstood or misrepresented

•Our mission is to educate NOT to dominate
•Don’t use extremes when referring to a group
•We can use the media to influence and speak up for our religion
Problems in Daawah•When calling people to faith, one must keep in mind that he may be opposed
•Our duty is to inform; Allah will take care of the rest!
•Help people find their meaning and direction of life
