Objectives• Identify areas of improvement with pediatric and adult

patient inhaler technique and recommend corrective actions and spacer device

• Assesses how many puffs remain in an inhaler and identifies when the patient is due for a refill

• Able to educate a patient about an inhaler by brand/generic name, mechanism of action, and rationale for use in Asthma

• Can titrate inhaler dose and frequency and perform therapeutic interchange based on hospital formulary and patient’s respiratory status (i.e. mechanical ventilator, non-invasive ventilator patients)

Assessment

• Asynchronous timed online pre-test the week prior to class. Online course material will be made available after the pre-testing period closes. An online post-test will be conducted within 72 hours of the on-the-ground class and pre vs. post test scores can be compared.

• The learner’s weekly reflection will help to identify learning

• The online videos will be used for the instructor to assess individual’s ability to properly counsel a patient regarding inhaler use

• Feedback will be obtained via various mechanisms
