On Wednesday, February 17, 2010 some of the East Columbus High School Staff came and had an informative meeting with our 8th graders and their parents. This included talking to them about the Freshman Success Academy and some of the expectations that are involved (tests, community service, etc.). Also, Mr. Jamie Faulk discussed the Gator Girls, Chorus, Art and Band. Mr. Bracey, athletic director, let the students know that they have added bowling and soccer, but still offer other sports were volleyball, basketball, football and cheerleading. He also let them know that poor grades would prevent them from joining athletics. Sergeant Mathews, representative of the ROTC program spoke about the Army, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. The advantage of joining ROTC in high school is they can make more money and earn scholarships. At East Columbus, a new member of the staff, Ms.Shepard, Guidance Counselor, spoke about the classes in particular. In conclusion, Principal Mark Bridgers spoke about the school in general and welcomed them to East Columbus in the Fall.
