Alfalfa CaterpillarCaterpillars who lay their larva on the leaves of alfalfa plants which once hatched the larva will feed from the alfalfa leaves.Extremely large numbers of adults migrating between fields are often present from June to September in the Central Valley and form May to October in the Imperial Valley. (UC IPM, WEB)Female caterpillars lay around 200 to 500 eggs according to (Zones, Paragraph 4)

Destruction of AlfalfaAlfalfa Caterpillars feed off these crops.Alfalfa is used for many different things. They can wipe out more then an acre off one egg laying.

MethodsTask 1: Determine which fertilizer will best decrease pest populationTask 2: Determine which is the least expensive with priceTask 3: Determine which is best on crops and still safe for humans

The findings (costs)

The Findings (Kill rate)

The Fertilizers (Bacillus Thuringiensis)Very cheap and easy to useLeast harmful on humansEasily found and able to buy

The Fertilizers (Flubendiamide)Skin, eyes, and repertory irritations are very common (Toxnet.nlm)Not easily found and is quite priceyDoesnt have the highest kill rateCan really only be found by ordering online

The Fertilizers (Methoxfenozide) Second best out of the 3Harder to find and very expensiveNot completely harmful to humans but hasnt not been tested Kill rate is one of the highest.

ConclusionBacillus Thuringiensis is best overallKnowing which is best is a smart thing to knowInforming on the possibilities before going to purchaseKnowing what you want best from your crops

RecommedationI recommend Bacillus Thuringensis Best overallCheapestSafest on peopleAnd easiest to find
