Job 26:14

And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him!

Who then can understand the thunder of his power?

MatterColossians 1:16For in him all things were

created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

How This Relates-This verse tells how matter was really

created.

• Takes up space and has mass

• Multiple states

• Everything is matter

• Multiple Properties

Atoms and Periodic Table

Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for

you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

How This Relates-It tells us that God has a plan for us.

The Periodic Table relates to this verse because as God has plans for us, Mendeleev planned out the Periodic Table.

• Can’t be broken down

• Atoms of one element are different from another elements atoms

• Atoms of each element has its own unique mass

• Two or more elements atoms can combine to form compounds

• On the Periodic Table patterns appear when the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic mass

• It’s laid out in rows and columns

• Each column is arranged by the properties of the elements in that column

• Each row is arranged by atomic number in numerical order

Chemical Bonds

Ecclesiates 4:12Though one may be

overpowered,    two can defend themselves.A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

How This Relates-Just like how the bible verse says the

more there are, the stronger they are, the more atoms there are in a Chemical Bond, the stronger the chain is.

• Holds two atoms together

• Two different types of Chemical Bonds and ionic and covalent

• Ionic bonds are created when atoms transfer electrons

• Covalent bonds are created when atoms share electrons

Page 5: 8th Science Slide

Chemical Reactions

Hebrews 13:8Jesus Christ is the same

yesterday and today and forever.

How This Relates-No matter how much the world

changes, just like Chemical Reactions, Jesus will always be the same, just like the reaction.

• There are many different Chemical Reactions

• If matter changes and produces new substances it’s called a Chemical Reaction or a Chemical Change

• Chemical Reactions are created when new bonds form or Chemical Bonds break

• Some Chemical Reactions release energy, while other types absorb it

• Chemical Reactions produce new materials with alternate properties from the materials it started with

Acids and Bases1st John 4:1-3Dear friends, do not believe

every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

How This Relates-Just like the Bible Verse says to test the

spirits, we should test to see if it’s acidic or a base.

• Acids are substances that taste sour, reacts with metals and carbonates, and turns litmus paper red

• There is a scale to measure the pH of a substance

• Acids and Bases can take multiple forms

• Acids and Bases are used in medication and other household items

• There are many foods with acidic properties

• Bases are useful in cooking and baking

Energy

Ephesians 2:10For we are God’s

handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

How This Relates-God gave us the ability to work with

energy before we even knew what energy was.

• There are two type of energy

• Kinetic energy is the energy of motion

• Potential energy is stored energy

• There are multiple forms of energy

• Work is the transfer of energy

• There are multiple forms of potential energy

Thermal Energy

Revelation 3:15I know your deeds, that you

are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

How This Relates-Just like the bible verse Thermal

Energy is neither cold or hot. It doesn’t depend on temperature.

• Thermal Energy is the total energy of all the particles in a substance

• If a substance has more particles at a given temperature it will have more Thermal Energy

• Temperature and Thermal Energy don’t depend on each other

• Thermal Energy depends on how the particles are arranged

• Thermal Energy transfers from one substance to another through heat

Motion

Mathew 17:20He replied, ”Because you have

so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

How This Relates-Faith causes things to move spiritually

just as force causes things to move physically.

• You can tell a object is in motion when its distance from another object is changing

• “An object in motion stays in motion, while an object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by a greater force.”

• “For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction.”

• Speed equals distance divided by time

• Acceleration equals force divided by mass

Page 10: 8th Science Slide

Forces

Colossians 2:20Since you died with Christ to

the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:

How This Relates-Spiritual forces push us away from sin

and pull us closer to Christ.

• A force is a push or pull

• There are many different types of forces

• When one object pushes or pulls on another object, the first object is exerting force on the second object

• Force equals mass times acceleration

• “The force of Gravity acts between all objects in the universe.”

Magnetism

Hebrews 10:22let us draw near to God with a

sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

How This Relates-Just like Magnetism, every day as a

Christian we draw closer to Christ.

• The attraction of a magnet to another object is magnetism

• Opposites attract, while likes repel

• Magnetic Field Lines spread out from one pole, curve around the magnet, and return to the other pole

• Some of the elements on the Periodic Table have magnetic properties

Page 12: 8th Science Slide

Electricity

Isaiah 40:29He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

How This Relates-Electricity increases power to whatever

its connected to.

• Caused by moving electrons

• Some ways to generate electricity are: a battery, a generator, dams, and friction

• Two types of electricity, electricity, which flows, and static, which doesn’t flow

• Circuits are how electricity flows

Page 13: 8th Science Slide

Sound

Psalms 66:8Praise our God, all peoples,

    let the sound of his praise be heard;

How This Relates-We use sound to praise and worship

Jesus.

• It’s a form of waves

• Sound is a Longitudinal Wave

• Sound is a disturbance that travels through a medium as a longitudinal wave

• Sound can travel through solids and liquids

• The speed of sound varies on the elasticity, density, and temperature of the medium

Page 14: 8th Science Slide

Light

John 12:46I have come into the world as a

light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

How This Relates-Jesus is the light in the darkness of sin.

• It has the properties of a wave

• Light will either be reflected, absorbed, or transmitted when it strikes an object

• If the object is opaque, than the light will either be absorbed or reflected

• If it is transparent, then the light will be transmitted
