Production Process Evaluation

ResearchWhen researching for my product I looked at three similar games that I wanted my game to look like with similar purposes. The strengths of doing were that it helped me think of ideas on what my game could contain and how i wanted to animate my final product. Another strength when researching product is that it helped my figure out the audience I should aim my video game to. The weaknesses of researching for my final product were that it was very time consuming, this is because there aren’t many game like the one I wanted to create. Another weaknesses is that having found my target audience because of researching similar game I found that n existing game have any information on which genders prefer my game, making it quite difficult to decide on which gender to aim my game to.

PlanningWhen planning my product I created two mind maps, this helped me because it helped quicken the process of creating my final product. I also created a little experiment in order to get a handle of a few of the tools I would need in order to create my final product. The weaknesses of planning my product is that I didn’t have as much time as I thought to create my final product because the planning of my product took so long. The detail that that I wanted to produce in my product was cut a lot because of the time frame I was up against, I think that it put a lot of strain on my final piece. I over all think that if I didn’t spend as much time planning my product, my final piece would have been at a much higher standard and I would have also enjoyed working on my video game a lot more because I wouldn't have felt as rushed.

Time ManagementI think that I managed my time quite well when completing this unit, this is because I finished my product on schedule and was completed at a satisfactory level. I think that I managed my time well because I created a time schedule for 8 days. In the schedule I gave specific things I would do and what I would need in order to complete the task needed to be done. The schedule proved to be very useful and I checked the schedule daily to ensure that I kept on track through the duration of my final product. If I had more time creating my video game I would have add more detail in all aspects. For example I would have added a shadow for both characters to create a more realistic vibe to game. I think that this would have improved my game greatly.

Technical QualitiesThe similarities between these two products are that they have the same purpose. Both of the game have to catch or avoid objects in order to survive. On the left hand said the image shows an action shot of the well known video game Nyan Cat. The objective is that the cat is in space and has avoid obstacles and fly through milk in order to stay strong. I wanted to create a game similar to this because I think that i would enjoy creating a game similar to one I once played as a child

The differences between the two products are the setting and how the characters move in the video game. Nyan Cat is in space and glides through space whether my video is set in an old woman’s garden and moves by step. Nyan cat has a lot more detail to my video game because they were probably aloud more time planning and creating the video game. Another difference between the two products is that Nyan cat has a moving background giving the game a very professional look.

Aesthetic Qualities

I think that my work looks good because I have mostly used bright and vibrant colours in order to make my video game stand out. I also used I wide range of colours in order to try and keep my audience interested in my game.

I think that my work looks good because of the simplicity on how it looks. This is because if the video game was to detailed the children wouldn't be able to understand the concept of the game.

if I were to improve my video game I would have added more detail when animating. For example I could have added some clouds slowly moving in the background just to give the game a little something extra whilst the game was In action.

Another thing that I could do to improve my video game would be to add another character in order to give my game more diversity whilst playing the game. I also think that having an character would attract more children into playing the game.

Audience AppealI think that my video game appeals to my audience because of the bright colours I used in my video game. children generally are attracted to bright and vibrant colours so by using colours in my game will draw attention from the children and into the video game.

Another feature I think appeals to my audience is that the main character is a cat. Having a cat as the main character has made my video game a lot more appealing to children then having two human characters.

I think that having a score on the screen through out the game also draws attention. A lot of child games don’t keep a score on the screen through out the game so by creating a score board on mine and keeping it on through the game, changing depending If the player is winning or losing would really help the child understand and be more drawn into the game.

Peer Feedback Summary

• What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree with some of the feed back. I agree with the statement talking about the run ins between my two characters and also think that I could have been avoided if I had more time on the production of my video game.

• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?

I disagree with the statement about my video not having a point. This is because my video game clearly has point. In order to avoid comments in the future I will be sure to add more information before the game starts.

Peer Feedback SummaryIf I had to make any changes based on my peer feedback I would changes one or two things. The first thing I would change would be to alter the old women from running in to the other character. I would also try and add more detail to my characters in order to make eye catching to my audience. The final thing I could do in order to make my video game better based on my peer feedback I would try and make the movements of both my characters.
