MindsetsFixed vs. Growth

Dr. Carol DweckIndividuals who have fixed mindsets view their intelligence and skills as constant and unchanging rather than malleable. Individuals who have growth mindsets view their intelligence as something that can be improved upon through effort and instruction.Fixed mindsets get in the way of learning whereas growth mindsets foster a can do attitude toward learning.

Dr. Carol DweckPeople can have different mindsets in different domains.Children who have growth mindsets view new experiences as challenges or opportunities rather than obstacles.Children who have growth mindsets are not concerned about looking smart because their goal is to learn.
