Dead Tread Problems

• Bad traction on dry ground

• No traction on wet grass

Solution

• Check the tread regularly

to make sure you’re not working

harder than necessary when you

mow your lawn

1. Insert a penny into the groove

with Lincoln’s head right side up

2. If you see all of Lincoln’s head,

then you should change the tire

3. You can also use a tire gauge if

you happen to own one

significantly

• Manufacturers design lawn mowers to

wobble a little

• Without stable wheels, your grass will

look like someone with a bad haircut

Solution

• Rule out Other Problems

• Check the axle nut—if it needs adjusting/tightening, your tires are not the problem

• Check Tires for Deformation

• If the axle is fine, check to see if the tires are uneven in any way

• Replace misshapen or damaged wheels
