PRE-PRODUCTION

After the story is finalized, pre-production starts. Visualizing the characters, backgrounds and flow of the story with storyboards in pencil sketches is then followed by working out the color pallet, the visual look and finally the animatic .

3D MODELING

In three dimensional computer graphics, 3D modeling is the procedure of developing a 3Dmodel using specialized software. It is a process of creating a wireframe model that represents a three dimensional object. That object can be alive or inanimate. A three dimensional model is created using a set of points in 3D space, which are connected by various geometric data such as lines, and curved surfaces.

TEXTURINGTexturing refers to the process by which professional animators are able to produce detailing of a character or even the environment in which the character is placed. Detailing includes clothing, hair, eye colour, skin etc. in case of a character. In case of environmental texturing, it includes textures prepared for surrounding environment, from the surface of a table or chair, to clouds or forest in the background. Animators usually use photo shop in case of environmental texturing. For character detailing photo shop may be used although some animators may prefer soft wares like 'Z brush' which offer a much higher degree of detail.

RIGGINGWhat is rigging? Rigging is the process of preparing a character (or object) for animation. It involves setting up an internal skeleton that affects where your character's joints are and how they move.

CHARACTER ANIMATION

Character animation is a specialized area of the animation process concerning the animation of one or more characters featured in an animated work. It is usually as one aspect of a larger production and often made to enhance voice acting. The primary role of a Character Animator is to be the "actor" behind the performance, especially during shots with no dialog. Character animation is artistically unique from other animation in that it involves the creation of apparent thought and emotion in addition to physical action.

DYNAMICSDynamics in 3D can be applied to objects using rigid-body or soft-body settings. With simple dynamics, also known as rigid-body dynamics. You can use NURBS or polygonal objects in dynamics simulations, but you must consider the objects' surface directions. Objects that interact can be active or passive. Passive objects, although they can be key frame-animated, remain stationary; they can cause collisions , but aren't affected by them. Objects that are going to react to collisions must be set to active. You can switch an active object to passive and vice versa by setting the Active attribute in the Channel Box to on or off. You can also use Maya's Dynamics mode to simulate reality in how objects behave—for example, animating the way bowling pins react when struck with a bowling ball.
