When we were kids, we never held back our creativity. Anything goes as a kid you simply don’t give a crap; if the pirate was a fireman who made a living by being a robot-superhero then well, that was; what it was.

Don’t Care At All

Sounds crazy now that you're in your later years, but when you were a kid and anything like me, you didn’t care, because you had nothing to worry about. Being judged did not exist so you were free to have limitless thoughts about space and adventures and all the crazy imaginary characters that you made up.

The strange stories you created in your head about where your parents really worked - mine were secret agents. The excitement about what really went on underneath your bed (I had a live circus) Whatever it was you didn't care - unless it was something scary.

Those creative thoughts were beautiful; unstoppable; and incredible. Reward yourself today and allow yourself to think creatively and make the leap back in time to childhood. Don’t care, don’t give a damn and make your creativity as compelling as a pop up book.

Don’t be Original be ImaginaryBeing original is too much pressure when we were kids. We had an imagination that our school bus would one day fly like the Magic School Bus; and when we watched Rugrats we thought about our homes turning into a jungle or some other strange place.

Don’t be original be imaginative about everything. It is the most original way to come up with creative ideas. What things do you love? Think about your favorite: film, music, novel, and play. How would you have done it differently?

Now take all your favorite everything's and mix it together, plant your seeds and grow great trees of incredible creativity.

Be Weird, Strange, and Wild-Untamed-UnfocusedWe have been told from day one that we should conform to rules, boring! What we should not do and who we should do it with. This leads to fear and cuts off the possibility of being different. Sometimes you simply have to cut loose and be a little weird; it’s okay to wear that hat, put out that story. Be wild with your work for once and stop being safe.

When we were kids we loved our ideas, we didn't understand creativity, or even know that word existed - so we had mountains of it. The people around didn't judge us, so fear of rejection was low or non existent. We were truly free to not give a damn about how crazy, insane, brilliant and simply beautiful our ideas and creativity were.
