• Compare/Contrast the message that the Christian god was trying to send his people and the message the gods were sending to the people of Uruk.

Points to include in answer:

• Each God was mad about something (explain here why each God was mad).

• What did the gods want to change about man in each story? (this relates to the flood in each story)

Gilgamesh

• In Gilgamesh, the gods were mad at man because man was too noisy, and they could not sleep, so they wanted man to be quieter.

Noah

• Now – make sure you go read the story about Noah and the flood – look for why god wanted to flood the earth.

Question 2

• Cite two similarities and two differences between the flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh and in Genesis. Discuss how these similarities/differences show the different relationship man has with his God/gods in the different cultures?
