1. Ask, looking at SB p120#2, how do you ask questions with First Conditionals? Look at what is the same.=What if [condition]?=What will you do if [condition]?Write down an example.
2. Ask, how do you answer?=If [condition], [result].Write down an example.
3. In pairs, on SB p120#2, choose 5 questions to ask each other.Demonstrate once.Fan & I walk around & listen in.
4. Say, we will play a game. You will ask questions with first conditionals. There are 2 piles on the table. Each person will draw from both piles. One card is a person card. She will answer your question. One card is a topic card. This is the topic for your question. Ask the person a question with first conditionals based on the topic. The person must answer.
5. Demonstrate once.6. Play until everyone has had a turn.

1. Say, there is another conditional I want you to learn today. It’s unless.

Unless =unless = if not=If [condition], [result].=Unless [not]+[condition], [result].Give an example.
2. Say, we will play a game. It’s the same game. But, this time, you don’t ask a question. You make a First Conditional with “if”. Your friend will change it into a Conditional with “unless”.
3. Demonstrate once.4. Play until everyone has had a turn.

Post-Lesson Reflections:I think that the controlled-practice task that I designed can be improved as a pair activity so that
students got to produce more sentences instead of doing it as a class. Additional issues included students needing extra think time delaying the process. I will reduce such activities in the future and plan for more pair or smaller group activities.
