It means; you’re the spokesperson for the academy (i.e., “The Face”) and often times for the school too

It means; staying abreast of new curriculum, monitoring industry trends, creating opportunities and preparing students are primary

It means; always be ready and prepared to share information about the academy. Remember: “opportunity favors the prepared mind.”

It means; interaction with students must be regular and consistent

A fulltime Teacher that serves as the Director

Outdated curriculum

Internships that are not related to the curriculum or academy theme

Ineffective advisory board

Limited support from local industry in terms of providing internship opportunities for academy students

A fulltime Director at the school with no classroom Teacher responsibilities!

A supportive school administration

A sound curriculum that teaches students current industry practices

Paid internship opportunities that support the academy theme

Tangible experiences for students to showcase their talents and understanding of industry terminology and practices (i.e., meaningful job-shadows)

An engaging advisory board comprised of industry professionals that compliment the academy scope (i.e., AOF, AOIT, AOHT, etc)

Colleagues and other professionals within common affiliations (i.e., Other NAF Academy Directors that have viable corporate partnerships)

Local business professionals

Colleges & universities that partner with high schools for dual enrollment programs

Philanthropic departments and charitable foundations of major corporations (Consider: “If they can do it there, they can do it anywhere!”)

Media and trade journals as a resource
